VOX: A Choir for Social Change presents: YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Through music, spoken word, and personal reflection this event will hold space for first voices to speak truth to trauma, to shame, to healing, and the strength and courage it takes to speak out about sexual assault. As survivors and people learning how to better support survivors, we will offer our experiences, perspectives, songs, and a space for listeners to reflect. The event will also shed light on the effects of rape culture, patriarchy, misogyny and transmisogyny and how our society often oppresses the voice of survivors.
As people in solidarity, how do we recognize and fight back against these oppressive systems in our own lives and communities? As survivors, how do we find voice? Together, we hope to begin building a culture of care, consent and support. VOX wants survivors to know that you are not alone, it is never your fault, and we believe you.
